Christopher Farr Editions Bauhaus Carpet / Study Rug by Anni Albers

Based on a textile design by Anni Albers from the 1920s, the English manufacturer Christopher Farr Editions has created this motif as a tepee in two sizes. The graphic composition comes from a wall hanging that Anni Albers designed at the Bauhaus in 1926. The original drawing is now in the possession of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Typical for the Bauhaus is the composition of horizontal and vertical lines. The Bauhaus carpet is available in two sizes, produced by Christopher Farr with the permission of the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation:

Anni Albers (1899-1994) and Josef Albers (1888-1976) artistic work was strongly influenced by the Bauhaus, where Josef Albers worked and taught as a master builder and from 1930 as deputy director. His later wife Anni Albers first studied at the State Bauhaus in Weimar and later headed the weaving mill. After the National Socialists seized power, the couple emigrated to the USA. Today Josef Albers is regarded as a very influential painter, designer and art teacher, his wife Anni Albers as one of the most important textile artists of all. The English carpet manufacturer Christopher Farr Editions has produced the Bauhaus carpet with the permission of the "Josef und Anni Albers Foundation" as a limited edition artist's carpet.
