The Bauhaus Dessau, designed by Walter Gropius and the seat of the "Hochschule für Gestaltung Bauhaus Dessau" from 1925 to 1932, attracts around 80,000 visitors every year from Germany and abroad who are in search of the roots of 20th century modern design. Now the first book is available in which the UNESCO World Heritage Site is presented after its comprehensive renovation. With over 150 colour and black-and-white photographs, Bauhaus Dessau shows the entire architectural and artistic diversity and quality of the building. The volume outlines the history of the building, its functions and architectural elements, as well as the interior design designed by the Bauhäusler themselves. A special focus is placed on the works and products of the workshops, as the architecture, design and idea of the Bauhaus are inseparably linked. Bauhaus Dessau is just as suitable as a companion on a tour of the building as it is for looking up individual details.
