Description
The third issue of the magazine "bauhaus," published by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, is dedicated to things. "A thing is determined by its essence," wrote Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius in 1925. Exploring the essence of things is what the magazine has set out to do. Parallel to the large retrospective of the century's designer Marcel Breuer, things were selected that may seem banal at first glance, but which can be used to examine utopia and emancipatory effects, fetishes and consumer behavior - from teaspoons to cactuses, from price tags to mirrors, from boxes to timetables. The booklet attempts to find out how the Bauhaus changed the way we deal with things and how the examination of the "thing in itself" is taking shape today.
