Marianne Brandt's tea extract jug from 1924 is considered one of the most important icons of the Bauhaus. Only a few original examples from the metal workshop of the Bauhaus are known today and all of them are in museum possession. These specimens, made by Marianne Brandt herself, all differ slightly in shape and have a value of over EURO 250,000. A special design feature is the typical cross-shaped foot section. Today's licensed version of the tea extract jug is manufactured by Tecnolumen as a collector's edition in silver-plated brass. Marianne Brandt is one of the most important artists at the Bauhaus and one of the most famous designers worldwide. After her studies at the Weimar Bauhaus, Marianne Brandt later headed the metal workshop at the Bauhaus in Dessau from 1928 to 1932. Compared to most other designs created at the Bauhaus, her works - apart from the Bauhaus wallpapers - were already commercially quite successful at that time and were produced by manufacturers such as Kandem or Ruppel in larger editions. In contrast to many other Bauhaus artists, Marianne Brandt remained in Germany after the dissolution of the Bauhaus and worked in the former GDR after the Second World War.
