The Weimar Bauhaus under the direction of the visionary Walter Gropius aims not only to combine art and craftsmanship, but also to accommodate the "New Man".
Art and Technology - A new Unity
Rethinking the world
Learn how the Bauhaus influenced design history with its emphasis on theory and practice as taught by the masters. For many artists, architects and designers, the Bauhaus is an ideology and a conviction, not just a school of arts and architecture. Experimenting with new materials and forms entailed a whole new living environment.
Weimar, 1921: The life of 20-year-old
Lotte Brendel seems to have been marked out by her father - as wife and mother at the side of a man who is to take over his parents'
carpentry business. Against the will of her family, the unconventional and artistically talented Lotte joins a group of young artists,
applies to the Bauhaus - and is accepted. The Weimar Bauhaus under the direction of the visionary Walter Gropius aims not only to
combine art and craftsmanship, but also to accommodate the "New Man". In Bauhäusler Paul Seligmann, Lotte finds a supporter and her
great love. She is given the opportunity to complete her studies as a woman with equal rights - guided by world-famous artists such as
Johannes Itten, Feininger, Kandinsky, Klee and Schlemmer. But the break with her family, questions of equality and political pressure on
the Bauhaus make her life more difficult.
Mug Walter Gropius by Rosenthal
The new Rosenthal Stripes 2.0
collection is a true homage to Walter Gropius. In 2019, Rosenthal will pick up the TAC Gropius décor again and reapply it with a stripe
pattern. The fine lines on the porcelain are matt and shiny in the mix and match principle.
