This table lamp, designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in 1924, is often named the Bauhaus lamp.
Wagenfeld was 24 years old, when he was admitted as a journeyman to the Bauhaus workshop in Weimar. Here he designed the first model of this lamp as his solution to an assignment given to him by Moholy-Nagy. As Wagenfeld said years later, the Bauhaus designs were intended to be industrial products, and indeed looked like them. In fact they were hand-crafted.
Lotte am Bauhaus DVD
Weimar, 1921: The life of 20-year-old Lotte Brendel seems to have been marked out by her father - as wife and mother at the side of a man who is to take over his parents' carpentry business. Against the will of her family, the unconventional and artistically talented Lotte joins a group of young artists, applies to the Bauhaus - and is accepted. The Weimar Bauhaus under the direction of the visionary Walter Gropius aims not only to combine art and craftsmanship, but also to accommodate the "New Man". In Bauhäusler Paul Seligmann, Lotte finds a supporter and her great love. She is given the opportunity to complete her studies as a woman with equal rights - guided by world-famous artists such as Johannes Itten, Feininger, Kandinsky, Klee and Schlemmer. But the break with her family, questions of equality and political pressure on the Bauhaus make her life more difficult.
Shirt Kandinsky Art
Colours and forms determine the abstract works of art of the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky. His works have shaped an epoch. The paintings led to a liberation of color and to abstract-expressionist compositions and improvisations.
This to go cup is a real piece of jewelry. In honour of the 100 year old of Bauhaus this mug bears his name. The new Rosenthal Stripes 2.0 collection is a true homage to Walter Gropius. In 2019, Rosenthal will pick up the TAC Gropius décor again and reapply it with a stripe pattern. The fine lines on the porcelain are matt and shiny in the mix and match principle.
