Description
From Bauhaus to modernity: what seems to be a matter of course today was a groundbreaking invention in 1926.
Josef Albers designed these timelessly beautiful typesetting tables for the so-called Moellenhof House in Berlin when he was engaged in furniture design during his time at the Bauhaus in Weimar and was artistic director of the furniture workshop for a short time. The special attraction of these functionalist set tables is their flexibility and straightforward simplicity. The Nesting Tables powerfully combine clear geometric shapes with colours from Albers' painterly oeuvre.
Originally created by the Vitra Design Museum and handed over to us, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has now taken over the re-edition and entrusted us with exclusive distribution for Germany and Austria. As before, the tables are manufactured in Germany by a traditional family business in the Erzgebirge with special esteem for high-quality materials. The single-pane safety glass is imported from Italy especially for production, as only this material meets the quality requirements.
