Description

Anyone can paint a dot. Even people who believe that they have no artistic ability at all will generally feel confident putting a dot on a canvas with a brush. Despite its simplicity, the dot is a fundamental starting point for all painting. Once a dot has been made, the painting has commenced. Additional dots can be added or the original dot can be expanded to create various forms and shapes. It all begins with that dot and the possibilities for where you take it from there are endless.

Moreover, the dot is not just a dot. Although dots can be turned into different shapes, they are most commonly associated with the circle. The circle is a powerful symbol with multiple meanings. Kandinsky was known as a painter for whom creating art was a profoundly spiritual act. He worked to tap into universal symbols, using abstract painting to express emotion and spirituality. The circle, or dot, often expresses wholeness, infinity, and the cycle of life. Huge ideas are conveyed through the humble dot.
