Description
Almost a hundred years ago, a radical artistic utopia was born in the tranquil city of Weimar: the Bauhaus. Its effects still shape our world today. Against the background of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the documentary film VOM BAUEN DER ZUKUNFT - 100 JAHRE BAUHAUS not only tells art history, but also contemporary history. From the very beginning, the architects and artists of the Bauhaus, including Walter Gropius, Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee, asked: How do we live together? What does "living together" mean? How can rooms be designed in such a way that all people can participate in common life? With the Bauhaus, art, design and architecture became political. The result was a spatial art that was just as unwise to think about the distance between bathtub and toilet as it was to think about the ideal chair. The documentary film VOM BAUEN DER ZUKUNFT - 100 JAHRE BAUHAUS goes back to the beginnings of the first Bauhaus group around Walter Gropius, whose educational concept between celebration and research was revolutionary. Starting from the Bauhaus as a social utopia, Niels Bolbrinker and Thomas Tielsch ask about their evolution, their change and their inspirational power over the last hundred years. How can the Bauhaus ideas meet the challenges of global capitalism and its upheaval of housing markets? FROM THE BUILDING OF THE FUTURE - 100 YEARS OF THE BAUHAUS leads us from the legendary Bauhaus building in Dessau to visionary projects in Latin American favelas, from the courses of the Bauhaus masters Kandinsky, Klee and Schlemmer to Scandinavian schools without classrooms, from Gropius City in Berlin to the vision of a car-free metropolis.
VOM BAUEN DER ZUKUNFT - 100 JAHRE BAUHAUS opens its eyes, is much more than a history of building. He succeeds in creating a cultural history of modern spatial thinking that is as captivating as it is enlightening. FROM THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE FUTURE - 100 YEARS OF THE CONSTRUCTION HOUSE turns us into astonished and enthusiastic strollers between the spaces of modernity, who will from now on see every design with completely different eyes.
